Priscilla Cullen
Secondary English/Japanese Teacher
As a teacher, I believe that I have the responsibility to maintain a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment where student engagement is fostered through acceptance of the individual student and their learning ability. This can be achieved through developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents/carers, other staff members and the broader community. It is my goal to have a positive impact on each student that enters my classroom and have them take away new knowledge from each lesson.
Each student is different and come to my classroom with their own individual skill set. I believe in differentiation using a multitude of modes to foster a strengths-based approach whilst also incorporation a range of 21st Century Skills -especially ICT- so that each student transitions from secondary education with the knowledge they need to be successful and capable members of society.
I believe that education that I have obtained through my university degree is only the beginning and as I continue to grow through teaching practice I will also continue to develop my knowledge through attending numerous professional development opportunities to better my teaching practice so that I can foster positive learning experiences both in Australia and in the United States of America.
